New Commenting Features

In an effort to help generate more conversation about Purdue Alumni happenings in the LA and OC area we have implemented many new commenting features here at http://www.purduealumni.org/laclub/

The following is a short list of the major features being introduced today:

  • Social Sharing – Share articles via Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and email
  • Use Preexisting Accounts – Use your Google/Gmail, Twitter, Facebook, or Yahoo accounts to comment on each article
  • Real Names – Using these accounts will help identify real people much like Facebook commenting works today.

Purdue vs Notre Dame – Golf Outing and Game Watching 2011

Dear Boilermakers and Friends,

You are cordially invited to Hidden Valley Golf Course on October 1st, 2011 for a day of golf and football watching! We will be holding a golf scramble (Best ball / Par is your partner) followed by a game watching event held at the Get a Grip Foundation building at Hidden Valley. The price of tickets are $65 (for early birds only / ends Sept 12th!), $80 regular, or $25 for those that wish to attend but will not be golfing. Your ticket will include greens fees, cart fees, traditional football eats during the game (i.e. hotdogs, hamburgers, veggie burgers, popcorn, wings, etc) and two drink tickets to the cash bar. Please note lunch will not be provided.

The event will be hosted by Purdue alum and course owner, Jay Miller. Jay was a four year member of the Purdue men’s golf team and was a member of the 1981 Big Ten Championship team (the last time Purdue has own this award). Jay graduated in 1981 from the Krannert School of Business, married to Barbara who graduated from Purdue in 1982. They own Hidden Valley Golf Club in Norco California which was named the 2010 – 11 California Golf Course of the Year and the 2010-11 National Golf Course of the Year. Jay is also the Founder and CEO of the Get a Grip Foundation – one of the top three Junior Golf / Education Foundation’s in America. Also in attendance will be Jay’s close friend, Chris Gebert. Chris played QB for Purdue in 1977. After Mark’s freshman year he transferred to new Big Ten member, Nebraska. Chris’s grandfather played at Notre Dame for Knute Rockne and his father played for Stanford.
