Purdue Club of Omaha: NCAA week update

At this point, I believe we have the necessary volunteers secured for 11AM Friday for tent setup and decorating.

Again, the Purdue Alumni Association will be using the Old Mattress Factory as their base.   “The Matt” is going to put up a tent on their parking lot for us to have an exclusive area. There will be a cash bar in the tent and there will be food that can be purchased outside as well as inside the building.  This will give us a tailgate feeling and it looks like the weather is going to cooperate.

Those who have volunteered to help set up should be at the tent by 11:00AM to help the Alumni Association folks decorate.

At 1:00PM (and maybe a little before then), the tent will begin operating.  Our club will be the hosts of the event and greet folks as they come in.  I will bring club flyers for local Purdue alumni and friends who may not be aware of our group, and I will put up our club banner.  Be sure to wear your Purdue gear.

Even if you’re NOT volunteering for set-up, please stop by if you can.  The big thing is to get as many Boilers in Omaha to the tent as possible, so if you can make it (even if only for a short time), come on over!  Let’s show our guests that Omaha is a great place to live and that we back our Boilers from here, too!

There is a pep rally at the tent scheduled at 5:00PM.  Game time is at 6:27PM.

I hope to see you there!  Boiler Up!

Purdue Club: We’re hosting a tent near the arena on Friday

The Purdue Alumni Association will be using the Old Mattress Factory as their base.   “The Matt” is going to put up a tent on their parking lot for us to have an exclusive area. There will be a cash bar in the tent and there will be food that can be purchased outside as well as inside the building.  This will give us a tailgate feeling and it looks like the weather is going to cooperate.

We would like club volunteers to be at the tent by 11:00AM to help the Alumni Association folks decorate. At that point, our club will be the hosts of the event and greet folks as they come in.  Be sure to wear Purdue gear (especially if you have a “Purdue Club of Omaha” shirt as advertised on our website).

The big thing is to get as many Boilers in Omaha to the tent as we can, so if you can make it (even if only for a short time), come on over!

We will start hosting at the tent at 1:00PM and have a pep rally at 5:00PM.

We hope to see you there!

Place:
Old Mattress Factory
501 N. 13th St. (just a short walk from the Centurylink Center)

Purdue/Indiana gamewatch – Sat., 11/26 at 2:30PM

Well, one more football game to see if Purdue can be bowl-eligible, and none other than Indiana stands in our way!

Please join us (and bring whomever else you’d like) to see the game on Saturday, 11/26 at 2:30PM.

Ken Kesler has graciously reserved us a room at “Buffalo Wings & Rings” (12247 “L” St.) in the “L Street Marketplace”. That’s on the north side of “L”, in the same plaza as Best Buy, but closer to “L” in the Marketplace area.

If you can make it, please join us. We hope to see you there. Oh, and have a great Thanksgiving holiday!

Purdue Club of Omaha: Help wanted for late October college fairs

I’m looking for individuals to assist at any of these upcoming college fairs, working with an experienced fair representative from the Club.  The most rewarding part of working these fairs, I’ve always felt, is the opportunity to represent the University to parents and prospective students.

These fairs are scheduled as follows:

Sunday, 10/23 – Southeast Community College (Lincoln) – noon till 3PM
Sunday, 10/30 – UNO Sapp Fieldhouse (Omaha) – noon till 4PM

If you are interested, please contact Jim Schultze at jimschultze@cox.net or 402-651-5527.  I would be happy to answer any questions you might have.

Thank you!

Purdue/Nebraska women’s volleyball coming to Lincoln!

The Purdue volleyball team will be playing Nebraska at the UNL Coliseum on Friday, October 7 at 7PM.  Tickets are available at the following website (max 4 per household, so we can’t get a block together, unfortunately):

http://ev9.evenue.net/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/SEGetEventList?groupCode=V&linkID=huskers&shopperContext=&caller=&appCode=

I will be checking about the beginning of September to see if ticketholders would like to get together in Lincoln for a get-together after the game.  Get ready for more of these events as the Boilers start coming to town!
