Frequently Asked Questions

Membership Tier Questions

Where can I see the membership tiers?

Take a look at our membership tiers on our membership page.

Why are you offering different types of memberships?

We recognize that our alumni are a diverse group of individuals with different needs in different times of life with different goals, interests, affinities, geographies, stages of career development, and resources.

What is the difference between the various membership options?

All of the options are great, but the tiers allow you to choose a membership that is right for you, giving you control over the cost, the benefits, and the level of engagement.

  • BASIC: The no-frills gateway to Purdue Alumni
  • PLUS: The “traditional” membership, perfect for staying connected … and saving!

How do I know which membership option is the right one for me?

We encourage you to review the membership benefits in each tier to determine the best fit for your individual needs.

If you only want to attend Purdue Alumni events, show your Purdue pride, and support Purdue Alumni in the most economical way, then BASIC membership may be for you.

Looking for all those things in the BASIC membership but also want to stay connected through alumni networks, receive the award-winning Purdue Alumnus magazine, keep up to date on what’s happening across the University, and save up to 50% at thousands of retailers nationwide? Then PLUS membership may be your match.

What if I realize that I purchased the wrong membership — can I change to a different option?

Of course you can! We want you to find the membership that fits your needs! If you want to change your selection, please contact our Purdue Alumni membership team and we will be happy to work with you. Please email alumnimembership@purdue.edu or call 800-414-1541 to change your membership selection.

I was planning to purchase a life membership — is there still time to purchase it before it is no longer offered?

Life membership is no longer offered as of August 15, 2018. However, multi-year memberships are available at discounted rates. For example, you can save over 20% with a 10-year membership (compared to the single-year price).

Why did you eliminate the young alumni discount (35 years and under) and replace it with a recent grad discount (for those who received their first Purdue degree within the last five years)?

We realize that recent graduates often face similar financial challenges, regardless of their age at the time of graduation. The recent grad discount is intended to provide a more affordable opportunity for recent graduates to stay engaged with Purdue University and Purdue Alumni, something that benefits all alumni.

What are the member benefits for alumni living internationally?

Wherever you live or travel, near or far, the Purdue Alumni Association makes it easy for you to connect with fellow alumni, build professional relationships, attend special events, recruit local students, and contribute to the quality and progress of Purdue University.

Why do you only offer joint memberships at a discount for the PLUS membership option?

Quite simply, it comes down to economics. The already low price for BASIC membership prevents us from being able to offer a joint membership discount.

Current Member Upgrades

If you were a member before August 15, 2018, you are automatically a PLUS member for the remainder of your membership. PLUS benefits are similar to your previous membership.

Please contact us at alumnimembership@purdue.edu or 800-414-1541 if you have any questions.

Current Member Questions

I am currently a life member — what does the discontinuation of the life membership option mean for me?

Once a life member, ALWAYS a life member! You will retain lifetime membership status and will automatically transition to the new PLUS membership, which features the benefits you’ve come to know and love. So, from that standpoint, nothing really changes.

I am currently a life member on the five-year payment plan. Will I be allowed to complete my payments?

Yes! Like all good Boilermakers, we honor our commitments! All payment plans set up prior to August 15, 2018, will be honored. You will retain your life member status, as long as you complete your payment plan as scheduled. Your billing and payment schedule will remain the same.

I am currently a life member — will I receive fewer benefits now that you are putting me into a PLUS membership?

You will receive all the benefits of the new PLUS membership level, which is very similar to your current membership.

I am currently an annual member — what does the change mean for me?

You will remain a current annual member and will transition to PLUS membership benefits, which are similar to your current benefits, for the duration of your current membership.

Since the Loyal Boilermaker membership option ($125 per year) was eliminated which included an additional donation to support Purdue Alumni programs and services, how can I still support Purdue Alumni at a higher level?

Your continued support is greatly appreciated! You can make an online donation to the alumni association. In addition to a general donation, you may choose to donate to specific Purdue Alumni funds including; Sustaining Life, club scholarships, alumni networks, etc. Donations are also accepted over the phone at 800-414-1541, or by mailing in your payment. Please make checks payable to Purdue Alumni Association.

Are there any changes to the Purdue Alumni Student Experience (PASE) membership?

No, the PASE membership will remain the same. For $125 all undergraduate students at the West Lafayette campus will receive the same membership benefits associated with that level of membership. For more information visit our PASE website.

The PASE Life membership promotion was discontinued. All current PASE life members will be able to complete their payment plans.
