Support of Crew Club

Each year our club looks to help one or two current Purdue crew member with a scholarship. Our scholarship funds are raised by donations for local alumni and support for the Purdue Alumni Association. For the last several years we have awarded $1000 in annual scholarship. 2015 was our fifteenth year of scholarship support.

Crew Club Coach David Kucik said “The scholarship you so generously gave permitted one rower or two rowers to enhance their education through competitive rowing.” Since Crew is not a varsity sport at Purdue, rowers (and parents) must spend about $2000 to allow each to travel, race and bring home trophies! We receive grateful thank you letters from awardees every year.

With 103 novice men and women rowers and 83 in varsity squads, Coach Kucik says “The varsity squad has great depth this year.” The largest national intercollegiate rowing competition is held in Philadelphia on May 8-9, 2009. In 2007, the Purdue Crew Club not only received the All-Points trophy at the Dad Vail Regatta but it was also the first time since 1966 that both men’s and women’s heavy-weight 8s won gold medals.

The club also honors the senior rowers at our Annual Dinner during the Dad Vail Regatta held each May in Philadelphia.
